We are all so busy striving. We reach one goal and then we’re on to the next …. and the next. We have been taught since childhood that we must always be bettering ourselves, and so we did. Now we are told that we have to think of all the things we want to manifest into our lives. There is little time to ‘stop & smell the roses’; ‘enjoy the fruits of our labour’; ‘to rest on our laurels’, or any of the other platitudes. I have a Gratitude Jar on my desk. I put it there at the beginning of last […]
The magic of surrender
It’s been a very long time since I have sat down to write a blog. Six and a half weeks ago I broke my ankle and the next day I wrote myself a list of what I wanted to achieve in the following 2 weeks. Needless to say, none of them were done. Why was that? I had the time, I was stuck in bed with nothing else to do, there was no housework to distract me or other things I could do which I normally use for procrastinating. The bottom line was that my head wasn’t ‘there’, the muse had left […]
Grab life with both hands
‘Grab life with both hands.’ ‘Don’t put off tomorrow what you could do today.’ ‘There are none of us who know if we are going to wake up in the morning.’ We hear these sayings all the time and I think most of the time we just shrug it off and keep doing what we’ve been doing. The sudden death of a very dear friend recently has given me, and many others still reeling from the shock, a huge wake up call. This is a family that I adopted when I was seven years old and newly arrived from England. There was […]
The wonderous morning chorus
I woke very early this morning and was unable to go back to sleep. So here I am, sitting at the computer. The world is absolutely wonderous at this time of the day, with new beginnings and endless possibilities. It truly is amazing to be up before the rest of the world. Not even the birds were awake when I sat down here to write. It was 4am and pitch black. As the light dawned the birds began their sunrise chorus and I felt as if it was a performance just for me. When my children were little this was […]
The road back…
Way back in February I promised that I would journal the journey of taking my body from acid to alkaline. I had good intentions. I did start but each time I felt like writing, which wasn’t often I must admit, I was feeling miserable and writing about it just seemed like whinging. There is a little of my journey to be read in the blogs that I did write. Well here it is nearly August I am feeling much better and I am taking NO DRUGS. How did that happen? My last visit to the rheumatologist was at the beginning […]
Music to my ears!
Ahhhh!!! The sweet sound of a power tool as it rents the morning air! Normally an irritation, now because it’s been so long coming, it is music to my ears Seven years ago we moved into this house and as you do when you buy a house you discuss all the things about it that you want to change so you can stamp your personality on your new home. This was only the second house we had bought, and as the first one was 35 years before, the idea of renovating was exciting. We have done many small renovations, the […]
