Meditation can take many forms. It can consist of focusing on the breath; on thoughts as they come and go; or it can become extremely advanced and specialised with mantras, prayer beads and ridding the mind of thought.

Whether we know it or not, we have all meditated in some form or other: staring into a fire; watering the garden; staring at the waves on the beach; listening to the hypnotic sound of the waves as they roll onto the sand….these are all forms of meditation that we do unconsciously and feel more relaxed as a result. Meditation can be as simple as you want.
The popularity that meditation has gained recently comes as a result of people discovering just how beneficial it can be in their lives. It is a way of alleviating the stress of modern life and reclaiming the spiritual void that is so prevalent in our society today. Meditation is often used to clear the mind and ease many health issues such as high blood pressure, depression and anxiety.

‘I teach meditation for beginners in small groups. We sit in chairs, (although you are welcome to sit on the floor if you wish) and I take you through a guided relaxation which teaches your body how to relax. Because we lead such stressful lives our body is on high alert much of the time so we need to teach it how to relax, just like we taught it how to ride a bike and drive a car. My goal is to give you techniques that you can use at home and that you can fit into your lifestyle.
